The Legacy They Built: A Look Back on How Bob and Betty Tointon Changed Greeley

This year, the City of Greeley renamed 8th Street between 8th and 9th Avenues “Tointon Way” to honor Bob and Betty Tointon’s contributions to the city. Those contributions include kick-starting the Women’s Fund of Weld County and revitalizing Greeley’s downtown. “Greeley literally wouldn’t be what Greeley is if it hadn’t been for the Tointons,” said Pam Bricker, downtown business owner and former executive director of the Downtown Development Authority. Betty Tointon died on July 20 this year at the age of 87. Here, Dan England outlines the legacy she leaves behind and it’s long-term impacts on Greeley.
