Artists needed for new mural at Greeley Family FunPlex

By Kelly Ragan

The City of Greeley is looking for artists or groups of artists to submit design proposals for a new mural at the Family FunPlex, 1501 65th Ave.

The deadline for applications is March 1.

According to a news release, officials want this project to enhance the Family FunPlex pool area with art that complements the facility and adds character to the space. The new design should be family friendly, colorful, and attractive to people of all ages with themes that include water, fun, play, or sports.

The mural installation, scheduled for April 2022, is set to coincide with a pool renovation project that will add new elements to the water playground area.

The selection committee will choose the artist or group of artists based on past work exhibiting style and materials appropriate for the project site, an artist biography with recommendations, and a strong letter of intent.

The committee consists of at least two members of the Greeley art commission, one or more from the recreation department, and a cultural affairs staff member.

According to the release, approval of the design work is based on aesthetic merit, originality and creativity, or innovation and appropriateness to the site.
