Grab your bait, tackle, fishing pole and sunscreen – the City of Greeley’s annual Fishing Derby returns for another year.

Ahead of the derby, the Colorado Division of Wildlife will stock the lake with fresh trout, according to a news release. There will be plenty to catch as folks compete to catch the biggest fish.

The derby is set to take place 8 a.m. – noon Saturday at Sanborn Park, 2031 28th Ave. It’s open to everyone 5 years old and up at no cost.

The Fishing Derby does not require a fishing license to participate. In fact, Colorado Parks and Wildlife has designated June 4 and 5 Free Fishing Weekend throughout the state.

City staff will also award prizes every half hour throughout the event to folks who register.
