Greeley City Council 2021 election results are in

The results are in – Greeley City Council will see two new faces as the election dust settles, with two incumbents returning for another term.

As of Nov. 7, here’s how the votes broke down:

Mayor

Incumbent John Gates won with 70.58% of the votes.

John Gauthiere and Jim Ethridge trailed behind with 15.68% and 13.74% of the votes, respectively.

“We have a lot of work ahead of us, but I’m up to the task and our city councilors too,” Gates told the Tribune. “I’m excited to continue to lead.”

At-large

Brett Payton, who previously served as the Ward II representative, won with 40.02% of the votes.

Lavonna Longwell and Paul Wood trailed behind with 31.99% and 27.98% of the votes, respectively.

“Overall, on the whole ballot, I think it was a good night for Greeley. For me personally, it feels good,” Payton told The Greeley Tribune. “I think we are going to have a good group here moving forward. Down the line it looks good and I am just happy for tonight.”

Ward II

Deb DeBoutez won with 51.52% of the votes.

Louisa Andersen and Sean Short trailed behind with 32.98% and 15.50% of the vote, respectively.

“I just am humbled and honored that the community’s giving me this chance and grateful for the opportunity,” DeBoutez told the Tribune. “I will work very hard to make Greeley great.”

Ward III

Johnny Olson ran unopposed, scoring 100% of the vote.
