Greeley’s eighth annual Blarney on the Block is a go for 2022

By Kelly Ragan

After a two-year hiatus (thanks, Covid) Greeley’s eighth annual St. Patrick’s Day celebration, Blarney on the Block, is a go.

According to the Downtown Development Authority, the celebration will kick off 2 p.m. Saturday, March 12th at downtown Greeley’s 9th Street Plaza. The four-block National First Bank Blarney Parade is scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m.

Folks are invited to join in the fun by decorating their bikes, strollers, wagons, dogs, families and more.

Since the event is outdoors, organizers feel comfortable hosting the event this year, according to the release.

The parade route is set to start on 9th Ave. between 6th Street and 7th Street (east side of the DoubleTree Hotel). Groups and organizations must register beforehand with the DDA. Citizens can show up and join the ‘Community Member” section.

According to the release, participants should be there ready to line up no later than 2:15 p.m.

Spectators can plan to be entertained by the McTeggart Irish Dancers from 2 p.m. until the parade starts. Live music will follow the parade, including performances by The Northern Colorado Caledonia Pipe Band and Irish Pub Band, Juice O’ The Barley.

According to the release, the DDA is still looking for volunteers to help with parade management.
