Wreaths Across America seeks volunteers to help place wreaths at Linn Grove Cemetary
By Kelly Ragan
Every year, Wreaths Across America works to recognize local veterans and first responders by placing wreaths on their graves at Linn Grove Cemetery. Every year, officials need help from the community to pull off the event.
“There’s much work to be done to ensure each veteran and first responder is honored and remembered this December,” said Chris Ruth, location coordinator with Wreaths Across America, in a news release. “We count on the community’s support. Volunteering or sponsoring a wreath donation is a wonderful opportunity for service organizations, students and families to give back to the community, and to carry on their mission: Remember our fallen U.S. Veterans.”
Here’s how you can help.
Volunteer
9 a.m. Sat. Nov. 6: Volunteer to place marking flags on each veteran’s and first responder’s graves to prepare for the ceremony.
10 a.m. Sat. Dec. 18: Place wreaths on gravesites following a celebration honoring veterans, beginning with a tribute and a speech from local officials.
Sponsor a wreath
The fresh, evergreen wreaths that decorate graves costs $15. City officials hope to have one wreath for each of the 1,860 graves at Linn Grove Cemetery.
