We broke the story, you made it possible

In May, we ran a story about contention within Weld County leadership over the “safer-at-work” plan announced by the Weld County Commissioners that same week. Through documents we obtained via an open records request, we learned that Dr. Mark Wallace, Director of Weld County Public Health, warned commissioners not to go forward with the plan the day before they announced it to the public.

Thanks to the financial support of our Patreon members, we are able to file open records requests that lead us to important information for many stories. Public records are key to providing reliable, accurate information to our news, and giving the best possible coverage to our community. They also cost money. When you support the NoCo Optimist, you enable us to pursue public records and hire the best possible writers and editors to present the story. That means you and your neighbors have access to information about the decisions being made in our community.
