19 Weld County nonprofits scored funding to help serve the most vulnerable

Need some good news? The organizations that serve the most vulnerable in Weld County scored some funding this month.
In a second round of giving, the Weld Recovers Fund: COVID-19 Relief gave out $150,500, according to a news release, bringing the total to $237,000.
Money from the fund went to 19 different nonprofits, including:
A Woman’s Place for cleaning supplies, shelter utilities and food
60+ Ride for food and prescription assistance for those 60-plus years of age
University of Northern Colorado Foundation to supply the Bear Pantry at UNC with food and essential household supplies
Immigrant and Refugee Center of Northern Colorado for rent and utility assistance, medical cost relief, internet access, and transportation costs, up to $200 per household
Weld Food Bank for the Kids Backpack program
Envision for basic supplies such as personal protective equipment, food, diapers, wipes and paper products
WOMEN TO WOMEN for one-time grants up to $750 to women in need
Boys & Girls Club of Weld County for supplies for “Be Great Boxes”
Carbon Valley Help Center for rent, mortgage, and utility assistance
Almost Home, Inc. for rent and mortgage assistance
Northern Colorado Veterans Resource Center for shelter, employment assistance, work supplies, food, transportation and crisis intervention for veterans impacted by COVID-19
Salud Family Health Centers for telehealth services
Sunrise Community Health for COVID-19 screening and testing for uninsured and underinsured, purchase of critical personal protective equipment, cleaning supplies, and telehealth
Neighbor to Neighbor for rental assistance
United Way of Weld County for diapers, wipes and formula, and 24/7 homeless shelter
Weld Re-8 School District for 28 chrome books for students without one
Catholic Charities of Weld County for rental assistance
North Colorado Health Alliance for motel room rental, food and supplies, cleaning fees to house COVID-19 positive clients experiencing homelessness
Fort Lupton Food and Clothing Bank for food assistance
The committee reading the grant applications and deciding nonprofit distribution includes United Way board members Julie Cozad, Patty Gates, and Tom Norton, Weld Community Foundation board members Junior Barrios, Julie Constance, and Scott Young, and community-at-large participants Nomie Ketterling and Christine Richardson, according to the release.
“Our Weld County community has, once again, been very generous,” Gates said in the release. “It is gratifying to play a small part in helping local nonprofits meet the increased need that is a direct result of dealing with COVID-19. I am honored to be a member of the Weld Recovers Distribution Committee.”
