Calling all artists: The city of Greeley wants you to help create musical murals

By Kelly Ragan

Do you dream of painting a mural downtown or know of someone with the artistic chops to bring some beauty to Greeley’s buildings?

The city of Greeley wants qualified artists to help put the finishing touches on two downtown murals. According to the city’s website, it’s specifically looking for pieces that fit the existing musical theme.

The city has a $4,000 budget for each mural, which will cover artwork design, fabrication, delivery, assistance with installation, artists’ liability insurance, and all materials including city approved UV-anti graffiti coating.

What’s the submission deadline?

Proposal packets must be submitted on or before 11 p.m. May 30 to be considered, according to the release. To apply, send your proposal packet to Kim Snyder at kim.snyder@greeleygov.com. Artists will be notified by June 19 if they were selected.

What do you need to apply?

The artist proposal packet must include:

  • An artist resume or artist statement

  • A rough sketch of the proposed design in color with a written description that explains the materials you intend to use and the meaning or inspiration behind the design.

  • 4-6 digital photos of past work sent via email. Images must be formatted to be viewed with Adobe Acrobat Reader.

  • An inventory sheet descripting past work images including title, medium, cost, dimensions, location, and date produced.

According to the website, artists will be selected based on the artistic design, craftmanship, quality of the materials, and how well the proposal reflects the alleyway’s musical theme.
