We’ve got great news for folks who love fried chicken: Sexy Sammies opened its second location Monday.

The restaurant, owned by Brian Seifried, owner of Wing Shack and co-owner of Luna’s Tacos & Tequila, now has a downtown location, 1540 8th Ave.

“We are beyond excited for this location near the UNC campus and to bring another small business to the thriving downtown Greeley community,” said Seifried in a news release. “Since our start in Garden City with Wing Shack 18 years ago, we have loved being a part of this town.”

The first store opened Feb. 26, 2021, boasting a tech-based ordering system and a trendy interior.

It also quickly gained a fan base.

John Gates, mayor of Greeley, said in a news release he’s looking forward to the opening of the second location.

"You won't find a finer chicken sandwich than what Sexy Sammies serves," said Gates in the release. "They have a good selection of tenders and sammies, but my particular favorite is the Nashville Hot Sammie.”

What makes Sexy Sammies special?

With Sexy Sammies, Seifried focuses on what makes Southern fried chicken memorable.

Food writer Emily Kemme explained: “Studying different styles, (Seifried) looked at the technical side — evaluating breading and brines — with an understanding that to present fried chicken at its blue ribbon best it needs deep chicken flavor with a crispy bite. He ended up using a blend of traditional wheat flour, potato flour and tapioca starch — this last a nod to Asian influences on the dish.

The result at Sexy Sammies is crisp breading that holds on tight to plump, juicy tenders. The taste is global, a bit of heat, with a traditional twist. The tenders are hand-breaded daily, and the shop uses a single fry method.”
