Starting March 15, Greeley residents can drop off glass recycling at Crabtree Brewing Co.

Greeley residents will soon have an option for drop-off glass recycling thanks to the near completion of a public-private partnership among the city and Owens-Illinois, Crabtree Brewing Co., and Andersen Sales and Salvage Inc.
Beginning March 15, glass for recycling can be dropped off at Crabtree Brewing, 2961 29th St., and Andersen Salvage, 1490 E. 8th St.
The two recycling receptacles that will be placed at those businesses were purchased by Owens-Illinois, which operates a glass recycling plant in Windsor. Their use has been provided to the city, and Greeley’s public works employees will be responsible for transporting the glass to Denver for recycling.
As far as other recycling options in Greeley, Andersen offers drop-off metal recycling at its facility. Greeley GROW, 1130 E. 8th St., accepts drop-off organic recycling, and Schaefer Enterprises Inc. accepts drop-off e-waste, paper and lightbulb recycling at its facility, 420 15th St.
Additionally, some waste disposal companies that operate in Greeley offer optional curbside recycling, including Waste Management, Republic Services and Bunting Disposal. The prices for those services range from $10.50 to $17 per billing cycle, depending on the company.
Will Jones, Greeley’s deputy director of public works, said plastic recycling still is on the city’s radar, as it’s not currently an option here. In fact, council voted unanimously Tuesday to adopt a resolution allowing public works to pursue $50,000 in grant funds from Colorado FRWD to conduct a waste diversion study, which would gather input from council and Greeley residents on recycling habits and feasibility, as well as an analysis of what exactly we’re throwing away. The application for those funds was due March 4, so the city just snuck in its request.
